Digital transfer and manipulation of 1880 Zoetrope, new music composition 2015 I took a Zoetrope strip from 1880 and brought it to life digitally instead of using a rotating wheel. The title of the Zoetrope, is the Nigger and the Tiger. The name I gave is based on the reference to the counting game. “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,” is a children’s counting rhyme that has existed in various forms since well before 1820 and is common in many languages with similar-sounding nonsense syllables. Some versions of this rhyme had the word “nigger” instead of “tiger.” This version was similar to that reported as the most common version among American schoolchildren in 1888.

Eeny, meena, miny, mo, Catch a nigger by the toe; If he hollers let him go, Eena, meena, mina, mo.
